LUCIA-a unique movie with a unique presentation in sandalwood provides a shot in the arm for our film fraternity.Pawan kumar has shown great maturity as a director,just 1 movie off his debut and has taken a huge leap in this movie in terms of the subject(unlike the stereotyped-romance-comedy-axn masala flicks witch loot the moolah)presentation,creativity.....The picture starts with anticlimax,the starting few minutes make us think it to be a crime-cop cinema.But v realize the darkness of our assumptions when Nee Nasam Satish.alias.Nikki ,the protagonist switch on the byatterreee in Sankranna's talkeess to lead the kannada picturre prekshakas to their assigned seat no printed on the tiketu.
Nikki,the puppet,tries hard to sleep at nyt only to be denied of it by the
puppeteer.In order to beat the insomnia he loafs,then chance upon to know abt a pill which make him sleep but with an added benefit of lucid dreaming wherin the person remembers n can manipulate the happenings in the dream.LUCIA-the magic pill paints his monochrome life with colors.The picturre cruise jungling up stills from his realistic life-unrealistic ,yet seems realistic, dreams-and the crime cop investigation only to be finally confluenced triveni sangam-ed in the climax,in his realistic life.Audience need not undergo the pain in intrepreting the stills b/w the three genre till the penultimate phase for the editor(shahbhash)with sharp mind n sharp scissors has tailored the presentation of the picturre such tat each genre takes off from the previous genre with a link upon which it proceeds.Audience remain insomniac 2ru out the pcturre only to go maniac in the ultimate phase-the climax.coz audience realise they have been trapped to believe(unrealistic colored lucid dreaming as realistic and realistic monochromed life as unrealistic)the contrary ,right from the scene where NeeNasam Satish switch on the byatterree in his Sankranna's talkeessu to lead the kannada picturre prekshakas into this ಖೆಡ್ಡ of illusionu.
Director has succeeded in playing with the audience intellect akin to UPPI DADA.His grip over the lucid dreaming doesn't let it loooze.Kudos to the lead players for ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾದ performance.Debutant music director Poorna chandra tejaswi has supplemented lucid dreaming with catchy tunes.Cinematography refurbishes this low budget picturre(50 lakhs) RICH.
